Privacy notice

How we handle personal data, in plain terms.

This is demo content

ACME Systems Ltd is a fictional company and this website is a demonstration. The notice below is illustrative only. It is not legal advice and should not be copied for a real business.

Who we are

ACME Systems Ltd (company number 08451234), registered in England and Wales at 14 Bermondsey Street, 4th Floor, London SE1 3UN, is the data controller for personal data collected through this website and in the course of our business.

What we collect and why

Enquiries. When you contact us we collect your name, email address, organisation and whatever you tell us about your requirement. We use it to answer you and to quote. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — responding to someone who has asked us a question.

Customer records. Where you become a customer we hold contact details, order history, delivery addresses and correspondence, in order to perform the contract and to meet our statutory record-keeping duties.

This website. It is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and does not track you between visits.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become orders are deleted after two years. Customer and order records are kept for seven years after the end of the relationship, to satisfy tax and product-liability obligations. Test and conformity records are kept for the working life of the equipment, because someone will eventually need them.

Who we share it with

Our carriers, in order to deliver goods to you. Our accountants and auditors, where they require it. Regulators and certification bodies where we are obliged to. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for marketing purposes.

Where it is held

Within the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where a supplier processes data outside that area we rely on an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You may ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we have no continuing need, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and ask us to restrict processing while a question is resolved. Write to hello@acmesystems.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, though we would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
